What interpretation means

We preserve the people, pets, composition, and character visible in your photograph. Details that are completely missing cannot be recovered exactly and may require careful artistic interpretation.

You preview both the faithful restoration and your selected Soft Watercolor or Classic Oil artwork before payment.

Faithful Restoration

Restore old photos without inventing certainty

Old photo restoration repairs visible damage, fading, stains, scratches, tears, creases, lost contrast, and some blur where the surviving photograph still contains usable information. It cannot perfectly recover detail that is completely absent.

Faithful repair

The restored image keeps recognizable faces, relationships, clothing, composition, and the character visible in the original. It improves the photograph without intentionally redesigning facial identity.

Careful reconstruction

When damage covers information, reconstruction requires interpretation. Very small faces, severe motion blur, large missing areas, or heavy obstruction may not restore reliably.

Photo Restoration FAQ

Common questions about restoring old photos

What is old photo restoration?

Old photo restoration improves visible damage and age-related changes while preserving the people, pets, composition, and character of the original photograph.

Can faded photos, scratches, tears, stains, and blur be repaired?

Fading, yellowing, scratches, tears, stains, creases, lost contrast, and some softened visible detail can often be improved. Severe blur or details completely missing from the source cannot be recovered exactly.

What is faithful restoration versus reconstruction?

Faithful restoration repairs and clarifies what remains visible. Reconstruction uses careful interpretation where information is missing. EverMoment does not present interpreted missing detail as an exact recovery of the original.

Will facial identity be changed?

The restoration is intended to preserve recognizable facial structure, relationships, expression, and composition. A low-resolution, obscured, or heavily damaged face may limit how faithfully identity can be retained.

Which photos may not restore well?

Photos with extremely small faces, strong motion blur, major missing areas, heavy obstruction, or very little surviving detail may not restore reliably. Upload the original scan or highest-quality file available.

How long does photo restoration take?

Previews are usually ready within a few minutes. You can review both your Restored Photo and selected Watercolor or Classic Oil artwork before deciding whether to purchase.
